Mitja completed his BSc and MSc in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He also worked as a research assistant on the ESA PRODEX Gaia transients project at the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia, after which he completed his PhD at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada. Now, he is completing his term as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Lethbridge. In his research, he worked on neutrino astronomy, astrometry and quantum gravity phenomenology.
