Effective Teams and Conflict Resolution

Description

Working effectively in teams is an essential professional skill. Effective teamwork can allow a group of interdisciplinary professionals to capitalize on the diversity of their knowledge, expertise, and experience to come up with innovative solutions for complex problems. However, teamwork also comes with inherent challenges, including misunderstandings, miscommunication, and conflicts.

This interactive workshop, led by Erika Lieu and McKenna Sperry, aims to provide foundational skills to support effective teamwork, particularly for participants who are new to working in teams. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Outline evidence-based frameworks and concepts to support effective teamwork.
  • Identify personal strengths and areas for growth through reflective activities.
  • Apply practical strategies to navigate and resolve team conflicts constructively.
  • Model best practices for fostering respectful, inclusive, and productive team environments.

Through dialogue, reflection, and skill-building exercises, participants will leave equipped with essential tools to confidently and effectively engage in team-based tasks and projects.
