The aim of this project is to create an algorithm which identifies the areas of the electrical grid which are most unbalanced (across electrical phases) in order to identify places where load can be easily switched from one electrical phase to another in order to improve and optimize balance.
IOTO
This project aims to use feature engineering to help track and evaluate parliamentary and legislative members. We will leverage public data and attempt to engineer new features which may enhance engagement and/or predictive and decision making analytics of legislative bodies.

The goal of the Math to Power Industry Problem is to develop an algorithm that will determine the construction requirements per Sub-section 3.2.2 of the BC Building Code
Finite Carbon
This project aims to improve machine learning models for image classification of areas affected by deforestation. It will involve techniques such as feature engineering, binary classifier design and the use of evaulation metrics to design models which maximize precision while minimizing false positives.
Nautical Crime Investigation Services - Problem 1
This project will use natural language processing to generate search engine prompts for high-quality results for incidents at sea. Quality indicators include relevance, diversity, soundness, and minimizing bias.
Nautical Crime Investigation Services - Problem 2
This project aims to develop a strategy for determining performance indicators to compare different search engines for yielding high-quality results from web scraping of incidents occuring at sea.
Nautical Crime Investigation Services - Problem 3
This project aims to develop a strategy for leveraging large language models (LLMs) to identify relevant search results for incidents occuring at sea from web-scraped content, and to extract key information.
Parallel Coding with Julia
Julia is a high-level programming language well suited for scientific computing and data science. Just-in-time compilation, among other things, makes Julia really fast yet interactive. This session will introduce Julia as and demonstrate how it can be used to tackle problems which require parallel programming.
