Automated theorem proving was one of the major motivations for the development of the field of computer science, but it is only recently becoming a reality. The goal of this project is to advance our understanding of Rocq, a powerful and evolving proof assistant. In this project, we will perform an analysis of an important library of “tactics” that Rocq uses to construct formal proofs.
Type One Energy
The purpose of this project is to compute numerical solutions to Beltrami’s equation in three-dimensional toroidal geometries. Magnetic fields in so-called Taylor relaxed states satisfy Beltrami’s equation and can be good models of magnetic fields in confined plasma equilibria.
Clause Technology
The goal of this project is to find a way to automate the process of finding relevant information in the BCBC. Clause Technology is a software automation firm focusing on research and development of software for clients across different industries. One of our focuses is developing software tools to streamline tasks related to architecture and civil engineering. One of our products involves a large language model (LLM) powered chatbot which helps builders to find relevant sections of the BCBC using a series of questions based on information about their construction projects.
IOTO
This project aims to create new tools to extract insights with predictive or decision making value from the output of legislative bodies. It will investigate whether techniques from signal analysis or related mathematical fields can be used to help construct these tools. The goal is to leverage public data from legislative bodies to reveal what in the legislative activity is deserving if attention from a policy point of view, either by connecting with a known policy ontology (such as the comparative agendas codebook), or by surfacing issues that should be connected to a known ontology.
Parallel Coding with Python
Python has become the dominant language in scientific computing thanks to its high-level syntax, extensive ecosystem, and ease of use. However, its performance often lags behind traditional compiled languages like C, C++, and Fortran, as well as newer contenders like Julia and Chapel. This course is designed to help you speed up your Python workflows using a variety of tools and techniques.

Effective Teams and Conflict Resolution
Working effectively in teams is an essential professional skill. Effective teamwork can allow a group of interdisciplinary professionals to capitalize on the diversity of their knowledge, expertise, and experience to come up with innovative solutions for complex problems. However, teamwork also comes with inherent challenges, including misunderstandings, miscommunication, and conflicts. This interactive workshop, led by Erika Lieu and McKenna Sperry, aims to provide foundational skills to support effective teamwork, particularly for participants who are new to working in teams.

Using NASA Earth data with Python APIs
This session follows on directly from the Python - Numpy & Pandas session and provides hands-on experience accessing & using NASA Earthdata Cloud—i.e., freely available satellite data—through Pythonic APIs. We’ll examine environmental risk scenarios (e.g., floods, wildfires) over various defined geographical regions of interest using cloud-based infrastructure and data.
